WomenArts Quarterly Journal is garnering favorable tributes in the literary world. The
magazine’s high quality has attracted attention among its peers in the literary world.
Newpages.com, a website devoted to independent and alternative media and literature,
recently featured a review of the latest issue of the University of Missouri–St.
Louis-based publication on its website.
Senior Editor and UMSL Professor Barbara Harbach and former Managing Editor Lindsay Shadwell were among the journal’s founders four years ago. They wanted to create an outlet for women artists of all genres and media.
After just four years in circulation, the quarterly has a national reach, sold at more than 50 stores across the country, and a strong presence on the Web and in social media.
“This issue features an informative and interesting interview with the musician Anne
King whose name you may recognize from ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ where she
worked as one of the musicians on the show,” reviewer Melanie Tague writes about
Volume 4, Issue 1. “King has also worked on shows such as ‘American Idol’ and
‘The Voice’ and currently is on tour with Rod Stewart. This interview explores
how King finds success through taking every opportunity that is thrown her way
and by building and being an active member in the artistic community. There is
something in this article that any artist could learn from.”
